2015_foodandfarm_jmoody_0079Are you a farmer or rancher that wants to learn new techniques and skills for the next season?  Are you a home gardener that could use some inspiration? Join over 600 farmers, ranchers, foodies and homesteaders January 6 – 8, 2017 and help power-up the sustainable food and farm movement! Sierra Harvest’s Sustainable Food & Farm Conference provides a unique opportunity to learn from community and national experts in local and sustainable food, right here in Nevada County.

On Saturday, learn directly from true innovators – Elaine Ingham -internationally recognized soil scientist of the Soil FoodWeb, Ben Hartman – innovator of “lean farming” for profit and efficiency, and Greg Judy – holistic rancher who used borrowed land to create fertile pastures and a thriving ranching business for his family.

On Sunday, build your own custom curriculum, choosing from 20 workshops designed for producers, consumers, and the home gardener, with topics like natural beekeeping, how to earn carbon credits in your pasture, grafting fruit trees, making compost tea, cover cropping, developing agro-tourism on your property, and much more.

A popular pre-conference activity is the Farm Tour – focused on building soil health and fertility.  Or sign up for a hands-on workshop on how to cultivate mushrooms at home.

Still need more reasons to attend? Check out Saturday’s Food & Farm Expo and learn more about the latest options for greenhouses, irrigation systems and other farm and garden supplies, as well as special services like the Nevada County Food Hub and the Sierra Harvest Farm Institute.  With over 600 attendees, it’s also a great place to network with others who are in the sustainable food and farming movement.
