Farm Tour at Higareda Family Farm – Thurs. July 1st, 2021 from 6-7:30PM

The story of Higareda Farm: Sandra and Paco Higareda and their three children, Daniel, Carmela, and Sergio moved to Browns Valley in 2002 and were so excited get their hands on their beautiful land –  just under 9 acres on rolling hills with just a home and a guest house but no infrastructure for a farm. They started out with their well for irrigation and eventually secured pressurized water from the Browns Valley Irrigation District.  After years of hard work, they are now a thriving small farm certified organic through the CCOF program!

In 2017, Sandra had the privilege of attending EcoFarm classes and enrolled in the Sierra Harvest Farm Biz course to gain further knowledge to succeed.

They now sell produce to BriarPatch Food Co-op, SPD Market, Three Forks Bakery and Brewery, Heartwood Eatery, Emily’s Catering and Cakes, South Pine Cafe’ and to the bay area to a Good Earth Natural Foods.

This summer you will see basil, Sungold tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, crookneck yellow squash, zucchini, peaches, and flowers at their outlets. They also raise chickens for pastured eggs which we sell at BriarPatch Food Co-op.
