Ever thought about installing a greywater system at home? Come learn how to create a low-cost system at home that will divert your household greywater away from the sewer and into your backyard, where you can use it to water fruit trees and other plants in your backyard landscape. Most households can save thousands of gallons each year by installing a simple greywater system for the washing machine alone.

Reduce water consumption, recycle water you already use, and recharge your local aquifer with clean water by using onsite soil microorganisms to treat the water and build healthy soil.

We will review the basics of home-scale greywater systems, including design, materials needed, safety, special considerations for the local climate, system maintenance and more. Together as a class, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through installing a greywater system at a private home in Grass Valley.

Friday evening will be a slide show, parts show, and design charrette.

The Saturday hands on project will happen rain or shine and expect to get dirty!
