Nevada County Resource Conservation District & NID

In an effort to help the community with its water conservation efforts, the Nevada County Resource Conservation District (NCRCD) and Nevada Irrigation District (NID) are sponsoring our second “Mulch Magic” event!

Starting April 26, 2017 and going through June 30, 2017, stop by either NID’s office or the NCRCD office to pick up a voucher for ½-cubic yard of either shredded cedar mulch or shredded redwood mulch (mulch is in bulk – not bagged).

ONE voucher per household only.

Some of the benefits of adding mulch to your yard/landscape are:

  • Adding 2 – 3 inches of mulch around trees and plants can save more than 60 gallons of water per week for every 1,000 square feet of irrigated landscape
  • Mulch keeps soil moist and slows evaporation allowing water to sink into the soil
  • Mulch breaks down into the soil providing nutrients for plants
  • Mulch moderates soil temperature and suppresses weeds
