Subject: Synthesizing New Knowledge on Rangeland Ecosystem Functions and Services Field Day at SFREC

Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center and the California Rangeland Conservation Coalition woud like to invite you to join us for our upcoming field day, Synthesizing New Knowledge on Rangeland Ecosystem Functions and Services, Thursday, April 13thfrom 8:30 am- 3 pm. This full-day workshop will allow participants to engage in field lectures by research teams that take an in-depth exploration of current research and understanding around five knowledge areas and also allow participants to spend substantial time with researchers to discuss site specific management issues and opportunities.  The five themes are

  • Microbial and environmental processes driving soil C storage
  • The future of niche and value added markets in grazed systems
  • Economic impacts and management of medusahead
  • Genetic structure, drought impacts and function of California white oak
  • Oak woodland hydrology and preferential flow pathways
