UC Davis Extension: Cottage Food Short Course

Cottage Food Short Course

Sunday, October 29, 2017, 9 AM to 4:15 PM. Robert Cabral Ag Center, Stockton.

This course is designed for farmers. Participants will learn about California’s Cottage Food Law which allows individuals to prepare and package certain non-potentially hazardous foods in private home kitchens referred to as “Cottage Food Operations” (CFOs). Topics covered include: the Cottage Food Law; food science and sanitation; Cottage Food opportunities; and marketing and business operations for CFOs. Because processed meat, dairy, fermented foods, and juices are not legally acceptable cottage foods, they will not be covered in this short course.

Registration is $75 and includes lunch. To register, visit the California Small Farm Conference webpage at: http://www.californiafarmconference.com/education/field-courses/

Need fertilizer? A gentleman named “Huck” Finn would like to give away 800 lbs. of Chilean nitrate (16-0-0), which is sodium nitrate and 800 lbs of phosphate rock. Both are in 50 lb bags, and have been stored for many years. If you are interested, call 916.663.2944 or 916.276.0897 or e-mail abuelofinn@hotmail.com
