2019 Workshop/Webinar Series
Join us for our workshop series in January-February 2019!
Each of these 3-hour workshops cover a different aspect of beginning pastured/free-range poultry farming and include talks from various experts in the field.
Join us at the UC Davis campus to connect with other beginning farmers and learn from our speakers! Workshops are $15/day with light refreshments provided. Please note that car parking on campus is $9/day.
If you are unable to join us in person, consider signing up for the webinar version of the course for $5/day. You will be provided a link to join us live and participate via a Zoom Video Conference.
This talk will address the relationship between ducks welfare assessment, management and health. Dr. Makagon is a faculty member in the Animal Science department at UC Davis who focuses on behavior, welfare and management of poultry. Her research investigates the ways in which poultry (mainly ducks, broilers and laying hens) interact with their managed environments and the implications that these interactions have on the birds’ productivity and well-being.
