Land Match

Our local agricultural lands are precious a resource, and it can be challenging for farmers to find a place to grow food. Our Land Match program helps connect farmers with local land-owners to provide more access to farm land, as well as preserve the agricultural landscapes in our community.

Making Forever Farms Together!

Together must work together to save our precious agricultural lands! Sierra Harvest is proud to be part of the Forever Farms Program, a collaborate partnership with the Bear Yuba Land Trust, BriarPatch Food Coop, Tahoe Food Hub and Mountain Bounty Farm to support farmers and ranchers in achieving long-term land security in our region by protecting farmland forever.   Our goal is to identify and protect farmland from development and subdivision, and give farmers and ranchers the land-access they need to invest in and build thriving agricultural businesses.

Our first project was to protect the 37-acre property on Birchville Rd. that Mountain Bounty Farm had been leasing, one of the biggest vegetable farms in our community and at risk of being sold for development. This inaugural Forever Farms purchase was finalized in 2020 and will be used to grow food for our region – forever!

Forever Farms will continue to leverage the expertise, skills, resources, and community support of our partner organizations to ensure the protection of local farmland and allow farmers access to land for growing and feeding Nevada County. Find out more about the Forever Farms Program.
