Seeking New Farms to Join our Farm to School Program!

Food Love CampAre you a Nevada County farmer looking to connect with local students?

Sierra Harvest is looking for a few new farms to join our farm to school program, now serving 22 schools!

**Because of grant funding requirements for this program, participating farms must grow specialty crops (ie non commodity crops/vegetables) commercially.

For a definition of specialty crops, see https://www.ams.usda.gov/sites/default/files/media/USDASpecialtyCropDefinition.pdf

Farms may also have animals on site.

Priority will be given to ecologically responsible farms who are growing a diversity of crops and are interested in participating in all components of the program.  If you are interested in only a particular element of the programming, please contact us to see how you might become involved in a partial manner.

Elements of the farm to school program include:

  • Farm Field Trips
  • In School Farmer Visits
  • Veggie boxes for school garden carts in the fall

Farmers are paid for participation in this program, as well as promoted through Sierra Harvest. Sierra Harvest’s mission is to educate, inspire, and connect Nevada County families to fresh, local, seasonal food.
