You can make a impactful gift to Sierra Harvest that can also reduce your taxable income. Here are three opportunities to consider:
1. Make a Stock Donation
If you’re looking for a tax-smart way to leave your legacy, consider a gift of appreciated stock. Talk to your financial advisor for more details and download these instructions.
2. Donate from your IRA (QCD)
If you are 70 1/2 years or older, a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA is a tax smart way to give. You can reduce your taxable income on gifts up to $100,000 and it may satisfy your required minimum distribution for the year. Contact your IRA plan administrator and download this sample request form.
3. Donate a Vehicle
Donate a vehicle to Sierra Harvest and use it to create more access to fresh, local food! You can donate a car, truck, motorcycle, boat or RV, regardless of its repair status. Just visit the CARS website and you will be walked through the process. Vehicle pick up is free, and you will receive a donation receipt for tax-purposes. If you’d like to talk to someone directly about how the program works, call 855-500-7433.
4. Give Through Donor Advised Funds (DAF)
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a philanthropic giving tool that allows you to contribute cash and other assets into an investment account that grows tax-free. You can get an immediate tax deduction for your contribution, and choose to make direct gifts to organizations like Sierra Harvest over time. Talk to your financial advisor for more details, and share this sample request form. If you already have a DAF with Schwab Charitable, Fidelity Charitable or BNY Mellon, you can use the giving widget below.
